⚠️ Important Notice: AI Companion and Meeting Recordings
Before enabling or using Zoom AI Companion, please be aware of the data privacy risks involved when allowing AI to process or summarize meeting content.
Zoom AI Companion recordings and summaries should not be used for meetings involving sensitive or protected data (e.g., P3 or P4–classified information).
For non-sensitive or general meetings, the feature is generally considered safe, and UCI has not restricted its use.
However, always use discretion and avoid sharing confidential, personally identifiable, or regulated information in AI-assisted sessions.
Overview
Zoom’s AI Companion is an integrated assistant that can help with tasks such as:
Generating meeting summaries
Drafting messages or emails
Providing in-meeting assistance
The AI Companion must be enabled per user account before use. Once active, it enhances meeting productivity for eligible users on the UCI Zoom platform.
How to Enable Zoom AI Companion
Follow these steps to turn on Zoom AI Companion for your UCI Zoom account:
Log in to uci.zoom.us.
In the left sidebar, click Settings.
Use the search bar at the top and type “AI Companion”
This will display all AI Companion–related settings.
Locate “Summarize with AI Companion”
This setting must be enabled to use other AI Companion features.
(Optional) Review additional AI Companion settings to adjust permissions or enable specific tools such as chat assistance or email drafting.
